Spark Occupational Therapy is the leading provider of Private Pediatric Occupational service in Campbell River. We also serve all of Vancouver Island. This might sound simple, but we are helping real families and predominantly children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, OCD and other expansive delays. We also deal with injury management cases and other OT related topics.

You’ll get to work on:

We are looking for a full time and/or part-time occupational therapist. If you have experience in pediatrics that is a big bonus. If not, we are willing to train the right person.

The primary duties of this position include taking ownership of clients and seeing them through to delivery while ensuring communications within our team and with the clients are clear. We’re a smaller team with lots on the go, and team members generally fill multiple roles; versatility and flexibility are critical traits for all team members.

Some of the things you need to know:

  • Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Evaluate patient upon initial encounter to determine need for occupational therapy intervention.
  • Plan occupational therapy treatment program for each patient, based upon interpretation of evaluation results; interpret evaluation findings for patient, family, and treatment team members.
  • Develop realistic goals with patient input; explain treatment plan and goals to patient.
  • Implement treatment or supervise treatment provided by your own Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Terminate occupational therapy services when patient has attained maximum benefit from occupational therapy; provide in-service education to members of treatment team to ensure follow-through of treatment program.
  • Evaluate, record and report on client’s progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. Communicate effectively with other members of the team.
  • Complete all required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct and participate in training occupational therapy techniques and objectives. Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings. Participate in continuing education program to ensure appropriate units are attained for maintenance of Provincial license. Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and requested.

Requirements

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy

· Current and clean Criminal Record Check

  • Current license as an Occupational Therapist in British Columbia
  • Current Basic First Aid Certification, or obtain certification within one (1) month of employment

Preferred

  • Current good standing as a RASP professional
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a setting serving the same age/type of patient population
